I like cupcakes (as anyone who follows me on Twitter knows only too well). Not without reason, either.
Cupcakes are happy on a plate.
I approve of desserts generally, and have seldom met a pastry I didn’t like. (I’m of Danish descent, after all – what would you expect from a breakfast roll?) I’m not terribly fond of cakes, however, which makes my special love for cupcakes seem just a little odd. I’m not even sure I can explain it – or that an explanation would do any good.
Cupcakes are like that.
My more recent appreciation for cupcakes is due to my fortuitous (if overly caloric) discovery of Icing on the Cupcake, a Sacramento-based specialty bakery that makes the best cupcakes in the known universe. (All arguments to the contrary are invalid – click the link and you’ll understand why.)
Even the icing is fantastic, and I’m not usually much of an icing gal.
The bakery makes a selection of flavors that changes daily (with a few “regulars” that appear on the menu every day) and a monthly special worthy of the name. The cupcakes are large enough to put most adults in a sugar coma, and even fifteen year-old Tesla can only handle two (at most) at a time. If you’re in the Sacramento area, definitely check this one out. (If not, read em and weep, as the saying goes.)
As if everything else wasn’t enough…the April flavor is Key Lime.
I know where I’m heading this evening. I’ll give you three guesses, and the ones without icing don’t count.
Hop into the comments and let me know where you stand on the Great Cupcake Debate: do you like cupcakes or prefer something else?
