This week, I have a house guest: THE RANDOM PENGUIN!
Random is a friend of my friend (and fellow author) Kerry Schafer, whose debut fantasy novel, BETWEEN, debuts this week. (And by “this week,” I mean TOMORROW!) Some of you may already know RP from Kerry’s Twitter feed, where he makes regular appearances.
The Random Penguin is currently taking a World Tour to help promote the launch of BETWEEN (which is published by Penguin and also features a penguin named Poe) and I’m honored to have him with me during Kerry’s launch week.
So far, RP’s turning out to be a real asset around the office. He helped me make coffee this morning:
(He selected the Jamaican Blue Mountain. Who am I to argue?)
And we checked to make sure everything is in order for Kerry’s launch tomorrow.
Now, he’s helping me draft some publishing contracts.
He’s a multi-talented penguin, far more skilled with the written language than one might expect from a flightless bird. Surprisingly, he’s also a master of negotiation – but to learn more, you’ll have to join us for Wednesday’s feature: How to Negotiate Like a Penguin.
If you’d like to learn more about BETWEEN, you can see my review on Goodreads or find it here on the blog (it’s in the section marked “reads and reviews”). The fact that I know Kerry (and RP) and received an ARC from her publisher had no impact on my review. If I hadn’t loved it, I wouldn’t have offered to host the penguin – they’re prone to bite when you talk badly about their friends!
I’ve got lots of fun activities planned with the Random Penguin this week, so be sure to stop back in (or follow my Twitter feed) to make sure you don’t miss any of the fun!
This is also this week’s Monday Blog Game post. The topic, in case you hadn’t figured it out, is PENGUINS!
this is all very intriguing…! fun cute penguin.
