October 18 is official “Chocolate Cupcake Day.”
To my dismay, the lemon cupcake appears to have no holiday of its own – a tragic oversight on the part of the Universe. Still, we pick ourselves up and we do the best we can with what we’re given. (Even if we must make do with cocoa and not lemonade.)
Chocolate cupcakes. Or, as I like to call them, “happy on a plate.” They come in many varieties and recipes abound. But in honor of today’s festivities, permit me to connect you with a recipe that combines three of my all-time favorite things: lemon cupcakes (no, wait, I got that wrong. I’M NOT BITTER…)
Chocolate, strawberries…and fire.
I give you: Chocolate Cupcakes With Flaming Strawberries.
And, in the interest of full disclosure, permit me to remind you of a few important facts:
1. Fire burns. Ergo, flaming strawberries will also burn.
2. Please do not eat the flaming strawberries while they are still on fire. You will get hurt and other people will laugh at you. That may or may not be the most serious injury you incur.
3. Do not allow small children to handle, light, or eat flaming strawberries, or cupcakes to which said torches are attached. The flames are made from alcohol, which is normally contraindicated for small children. Unless you like CPS visiting your home and wearing prison-issue underwear. (In that case, by all means go for it. But don’t blame me for the consequences.)
If you want something less flammable, feel free to check out the chocolate stylings of Icing on the Cupcake – a winner in any flavor.
