A Monday Blog Game guest post by Marci Jefferson
Children really are a gift! Halloween is always fun and this year was no exception. Despite the cold, the rain, and the wind, we piled layers under their costumes, took their pictures, and hit the neighborhood. The socks and leggings under my poor daughter’s tights gave the appearance of elephant ankles, but she grinned ear to ear as she set out as an American Girl Doll. My son, mostly concealed in a Headless Horseman costume, skipped down the side walk saying, “This…is so…exciting!!!!”
Was it the promise of sugary goodness that lit their eyes? Being part of the disorderly neighborhood parade of trick-or-treaters? The fun and pride of dressing up? The up-after-bedtime sampling and taking stock of candy?
Whatever causes Halloween glee, I’m thankful I’m able to enjoy childhood magic with them. Oh, and that big pile of chocolate they brought home looks pretty good, too.
I love Susan for many reasons, not least for allowing me to blog here! I want to know what her readers have to say about Candy Glee!! Anyone else get excited in the face of sugary goodness?
I remember wearing so many warm clothes under my costumes in St. Louis that I could hardly move! The candy more than made up for the discomfort, though. 🙂
I remember wearing a parka over my Halloween costume in Vermont. Such a heartbreaking requirement!
Isn’t it?? I was always glad to live in California at Halloween so I didn’t have to cover my costume!
