A Congratulatory Shout-Out for a Job Well Done

A couple of days ago I blogged about meeting a writer of science fiction whose futuristic sci-fi/speculative fiction novel sounded really interesting and who I added to my Twitter follow friends.

Well, other people think she’s interesting too.  Last night Tammy Salyer (twitter @tammysalyer – but be nice or I’ll kick you in the shins) won the Action/Thriller category in the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers Colorado Gold Conference Competition.

Congratulations, Tammy!

Tammy’s blog, So I Wrote This Book, will be on the blogroll as soon as I get it posted (yeah, we’re still a work in progress) and I’ve already talked with her about doing an interview here once the book is accepted for publication.  I’m hoping it will be soon, because frankly I’m really looking forward to reading it.  As my son will tell you, it’s hard to find good sci-fi when you read a lot, so it’s nice to find something to look forward to.

It’s a really awesome thing to be sitting with a new friend at a conference banquet and hear her name called as the winner of the writing competition.  I think those of us at the table with her were almost – almost – as excited for her as she was for herself.  (But we made a LOT more noise.) She’s probably too modest to brag about the achievement as much as she deserves, which is why I’m doing it for her.

Congratulations again, Tammy: here’s hoping to see you in print very soon!

I’m using Google Chrome and yes I see a yellow bar just under the “Home, About, Twitter” navigation links.

    Otherwise the site looks good.

Hi Susan. Such a pleasure to meet you this weekend. Looking forward to your historical fiction. Also, I really enjoyed your blog and am adding you to my blogroll. Not commenting on that yellow bar across the top since you’re already on it. All the best.
